City Of Sheffield
Boston Head 2019
A quick turnaround after Christmas saw the City of Sheffield crews heading down to Boston in Lincolnshire to race in the 5km (Division 1) and 3km (Division 2) Head.

Strong performances all round, but only a couple of wins secured by the Women's Masters 8+ and J17 girls single sculler.
The men's 4- raced well, but despite beating all the open 8+'s and coming 6th fastest in the head, they came third in their category, losing to very competent boats from both St Neots and Leicester.
Similar experiences were had for the two women's 4-'s and women's double, which again laid down impressive performances as they battle for selection to the top boat, but were just pipped to the post by their opposition in their respective divisions and categories.
The women's quad have been putting in some serious miles this season and this showed with a clean performance down the course and good display for their first race as a crew.

The Boston Head is normally known for being cold, with long waiting times at the start and finish. However, it was all change this year, with the organisers using the long stretch of water to their advantage to create an additional 2k loop at the start to keep people moving and crew identified wellie bags to aid helpers assist rowers out of boats and off the water in a speedy fashion. Congratulations Boston on a really well organised head.
