City Of Sheffield
Bradford Regatta 2019
A good showing by City of Sheffield at the well attended local regatta in Bradford. This was seen in the number of categories in which Sheffield City members entered into. This include men's and women's singles, doubles, quads, coxed fours, and even an entry into a very special invitational 8+.
Cat Webb continued her impressive form. After making it to the quarter finals at Henley Women's Regatta last week in the double sculls, at Bradford Cat decided to go it alone and win the thrilling final in the single sculls against strong opposition from York.

The Masters men stepped out of the coxless boat to capture a win the coxed 4 with the addition of Alex Wright to the team. Their win meant both Alex and John Johnson who coxed the women's 4+ managed to get a two for two victory.

The women's 4+ managed to retain their trophy win from summer 2019 after just missing out on qualification at Henley Women's Regatta two weeks before.

Another pair of tantalisingly close finals were seen in men's quad where on this occasion the women from Sheffield were on the losing side by a foot and the men by a mere bow ball.

This year saw the introduction of a mixed 8+, but not in the traditional sense, of men and women, but also a mixture of junior, master and senior rowers, some of whom had not rowed in a sweep boat until two days before the race. They faced up against what was a clearly a more experienced boat from Tees, and were it for a crab being caught close to the line, the race could have been another tight one.
