Peterborough Summer Regatta 2021

Updated: Sep 6, 2021

It was a new look Peterborough Regatta this year with events being split across the two days in a bid to help reduce the spread of COVID-19. Held over the weekend of 14th & 15th August, the two day event saw the normal banding system replaced with a time trial for all crews, and places allocated in a series of finals. The A Final would see the fastest four boats from the time trail race, the B Final, the second fastest four boats, and so on.

With most of the club members focusing their attention towards the coming 2021/22 season, only a small number of CSRC senior members headed to the regatta in scratch crews to see how they faired.

On Saturday, only the women's 4- were representing Sheffield. After a 4th place finish in the Time Trial, the women managed to qualify for the A Final. However, in the final, they managed to improve upon their already impressive time trial result and finish 2nd overall.

On Sunday, the Men's 4- were placed in the B Final, after a very hotly contested Time Trial, in which they managed to secure 2nd place. The women's 4x decided to go one better than the men by placing 1st in their B Final.

The Women's 2x also nabbed a 2nd place finish in the B Final, an event in which there was one of the biggest number of entries across the entire weekend!

Due to the very impressive performances of the women's squad members, they managed to secure 8th place finish in the Women's Victor Ludorum on Sunday. This is a huge feat considering the fact that they only had two boats entered!
