Our Story

City of Sheffield Rowing Club was founded in 1968 by a group of experienced rowers who were itching to bring rowing to the people of Sheffield.

Starting on a 250 yard stretch of the Sheffield canals, the first boat was launched to a small audience of school boys and supportive family members. The club quickly grew and  developed into a bustling organisation and found a home at the beautiful Damflask Reservoir alongside the Sheffield University Rowing Club.

In 1984, Sheffield Hallam University founded their boat club and joined the City and University of Sheffield crews on Damflask.

Over the past 56 years, the club and its members have seen success at all levels of competition including medalling at world championship, national and regional competitions.
